Additional Costs Students who undertake fieldwork will be required to fund their own travel and living expenses.

Applications should be lodged through the School of Engineering or School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering, as indicated by specialisation, with closing dates of:

  • To commence study in semester 1 - February 28 of the current year of enrolment.
  • To commence study in semester 2 - July 20 of the current year of enrolment.
Late applications may be considered.

Closing date for International Students:

Applications should be lodged through the International Education Directorate, The University of Queensland.

  • To commence study in semester 1 - November 15 of the previous year for Category 1 and 2 countries; October 15 of the previous year for Category 3 and 4 countries;
  • To commence study in semester 2 - May 15 of the same year for Category 1 and 2 countries; April 15 of the same year for Category 3 and 4 countries.

Careers

Master of Engineering graduates have acquired experience that enables them to cross disciplinary boundaries, and are equipped to take on advanced engineering work. They will have a combination of business, problem solving and interpersonal skills; as well as technical engineering experience that will enable them to understand markets and develop relationships of trust with customers, suppliers, business partners, and to work within teams.

These challenges create tremendous opportunities for a new generation of engineers. This is the dawn of a new engineering age where engineers are part of the solution at all scales from molecular to global.

The Master of Engineering (ME) degree is a 3-semester (full-time enrolment at #8 per semester) program offered by the School of Information Technology & Electrical Engineering. A 1 year (2 semester) program is offered to students who have a four-year degree in the same field by the School of Engineering and the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. Students in this program are taught by staff who are internationally recognised as leading experts in their fields, using state-of-the-art facilities.

Program requirements

The total units and other specific requirements a student needs to take in order to receive this award. Program requirements should be read in conjunction with the Program rules and General Award Rules. A 4 year entry student is required to obtain 16 units from the ME List; other students are required to obtain 24 units from the ME List.
