Learn how to make a smooth transition to campus life with our Getting Started sessions.
Attend a Getting Started in the first 2 or 3 days after you first arrive.
Attendance at one session is compulsory for all new international students at any level of study including transfer students.
Please note the Getting Started is ONLY for students starting their formal UQ degree program in the current semester.
At this session you will:
- Meet an International Student Advisor
- Receive campus and locality maps
- Find out about the process of enrolling / registering for classes
- Learn how to get your student ID card and your OSHC card
- Get information on banking, key university facilities, student discounts on public transportation
After this session you will know the times of important university events and you can then start looking for permanent housing without missing out on vital university information.
For more information about finding permanent housing and accommodation information, there will be an Accommodation session held after the Getting Started session in the same location and room.
Getting Started sessions are run at the St Lucia campus once a week throughout the calendar year, and more frequently during the Semester 1 & 2 intake period, up to and including Week 2 of lectures.
