All Brisbane-based international students who will have arrived after the start of Semester 2 2010 classes (26 July 2010), should plan to attend one Mini-Orientation session. It is advised that new international students who arrive after the start of semester first settle in (and attend a Getting Started session in the first couple of days) and find permanent housing before attending a Mini-Orientation.
Mini Orientations are especially useful to Research students who may arrive at any time in the year. Attendance at an Orientation or Mini Orientation is Compulsory, and we are sure you will find it helpful.
Topics to be covered include:
Student visa conditions
Working and Tax File Number application processes
OSHC health insurance and related health matters
University services for international students, and
Information for those here with families.
Comprehensive materials will be distributed and staff from the UQ Library will attend to discuss Library services.
It is advised that new international students arriving after the start of semester initially:
Attend Getting Started & Accomodation sessions in the first day or two
Locate and settle into permanent housing and
Organise you classes or academic program before attending a Mini-Orientation.
