The Jump Start Academic Preparation Program (JSAPP) is organised by Student Services for:
- new international students - undergraduate and postgraduate
- equity scholarship students
- First in family
- mature age students
- regional students
It is strongly recommended that you attend the JSAPP, particularly if you have not undertaken tertiary study in Australia previously.
The JSAPP creates a friendly and supportive environment to help students make the transition to a new educational institution and a new cultural setting. It offers you an ideal beginning to your studies at the University of Queensland, an opportunity to meet with other students and the chance to establish contact with staff who can help you during your degree.
The program
The JSAPP is a flexible program offering modules on many topics of interest to new students, including academic writing and study skills. The program includes social activities that will ensure you begin your studies with a good knowledge of your campus and some new friends.
The JSAPP is FREE.
JSAPP runs twice a year. For St. Lucia: Semester 1 2012 JSAPP will run from Tuesday 14 February to Friday 17 February. For Gatton: Semester 1, 2012 JSAPP will run from Monday 13 Feb to Wed 15 Feb. For Ipswich: Semester 1, 2012 JSAPP will run from Tuesday 14 Feb to Thursday 16 Feb. Registration for JSAPP has closed at all campuses and details for the program and venue will be sent out shortly. For additional information or questions about JSAPP, please email newtouq@uq.edu.au
Note for International students: We do not accept partial attendance during the 4-day program. It is necessary that you arrive early (we recommend 10 days) before the program starts to find accommodation and settle in.
