Organising tasks
The major tasks that confront us as uni students are keeping up with reading, writing assignments and revising and preparing for exams.
Reading
A really important part of university study is the idea of "reading" your degree. This means that reading is an integral part of your learning. Make time to read for every subject each week. You need to time to pre read before classes (at least 30 minutes per subject per week; it may be much more than this). You will need time each week to read to help you to revise the material you covered that week (this might take an hour or more per subject per week). At this point you will be making a one page summary that shows the major ideas and the connections between ideas. Use this summary to quickly review the material that you covered each week prior to the current week. This quick look through may take 10 to 15 minutes, and more if you want to revise in more depth.
Reading researching and note-taking
Assignments
Managing your time well over the whole assignment writing process is really important in terms of allowing yourself enough time to develop a cohesive argument and to minimise stress at hand in time.
Exam preparation
Time management is an important part of preparing for exams during the semester, during swot vac and in the exam itself.
