In the current Australian Labour Market recruiters need to draw from a larger pool of applications to successfully fill roles. Because it is harder to find the suitable talent to fill roles, it is important to have efficient recruitment management systems. As a graduate you may have to submit several online applications. Employers filter applications through several stages using objective measures such as structured questions and psychometric assessments to increase the likelihood of recruiting applicants that will perform better within the organisation. There are exercises you can do to prepare you for writing online applications which you can discover as part of the Online Applications workshop however, we have included some top tips below to head you in the right direction:
- Provide answers in each section, never leaving them blank
- Tailor your resume/cover letter
- Don’t submit your application after the deadline
- Don’t forget to attach the requested items
- Make sure you click the ‘save’ button when you want to save and the ‘submit’ button when you want to submit, don’t mix them up!
- Check for spelling and grammatical errors
