Dealing with Difficult People
Dealing with difficult people and situations is hard enough at the best of times. But sometimes we cannot just simply react to or walk away from a situation. This workshop is designed to assist you to identify the main challenges and how to understand and manage difficult behaviours and situations. This workshop looks at aggression and how to manage it, skills in dealing with difficult people, conflict resolution and the win/win approach.
Learning to say "No": Becoming more Assertive
Ever found yourself in a situation where it's too hard to say no, even though you would have liked to! Come and learn some tips about how to be more assertive in life, and some confidence booster to help get you there! Content includes establishing boundaries, response styles, adapting behaviour and the Bill of assertive rights.
Think You're at the Circus? Mastering the Balancing Act
With the ever increasing pressures of life, you may sometimes feel that your juggling skills could do with some fine tuning. In this workshop, we'll explore the many roles and responsibilities that occupy your time, and how to use time effective techniques to make sure you get the study/work/personal balance right!
Positive Communication for Healthy Relationships
This workshop is designed to assist you to identify potential causes of relationship difficulties by examining personal communication styles and behaviour. We'll explore listening skills, communicating feelings, negotiating skills, problem solving, coping with anger and conflict resolution.
Removing the stigma of Mental Illness
This workshop seeks to provide you with a better understanding of mental illness and the prevalence of mental illness in our community. We will also explore the different categories of mental illness, how to deal with emotions appropriately and how to respond effectively.
Preventing Burnout
Burnout occurs when highly committed people lose interest and motivation. It typically occurs in hard working, driven people, who become emotionally, psychologically or physically exhausted. This workshop will help you understand the background, symptoms, and consequences of burnout, and most importantly develop strategies to prevent burnout.

This workshop discusses team processes and dynamic. We'll also look at managing team communication, including avoiding confrontations, dealing with conflict and difficult behaviours, identify personal communication styles and effective strategies for when issues arise.

Leadership and Motivation
Guest Speakers: Australian Defence Force
The presentation is delivered by Officers in the Australian Army and is based on their personal experience in command both in Australia and overseas. The aim of the presentation is not to provide information about jobs within Defence or the recruitment process but rather focussing on essential elements of leadership, methods of motivating yourself and colleagues, and how to deal with adversity. We acknowledge the vast majority of attendees will not have any intent to join the Australian Defence Force. However, positive feedback has indicated that the real-life lessons in leadership and motivation can value-add in any management and academic context. The examples used are of a military focus, however the lessons learnt and methods used correlate with all aspects of professional development, leadership and performance and ways to deal with the strains of being a leader and manager within your chosen career paths.
Mindfulness in everyday life
Are you constantly thinking about things that have happened in the past? (If only I had studied harder). Or do you often find yourself worried about things in the future? (If I don't get 7's in all my subjects I will never get a job). Well, the past is gone and the future is unknown, so what we have left to think about is the present moment. Mindfulness teaches us to live in the present moment, to be aware and attentive to the here and now. In this workshop, you will be able to learn some skills to make the present moment the best place to be.

Discover the basics of Career Planning through this interactive workshop. Participants will be involved in several activities looking at their past, present and future career directions . This workshop won't give you the golden answer but it will give you the keys to unlock the door.
