Guest presentations

This series provides organisations with the opportunity to access UQ students outside of the graduate recruitment period and impart some of their hard won career and/or employment knowledge or professional expertise to students on campus.

Your organisation can benefit from the opportunity to undertake community involvement branding yourself to students from UQ outside of the graduate recruitment period; allowing recruiting staff, past graduates and managers to meet with students who are interested in your company. This, in turn, allows students to gain knowledge based on the personal experience of your employees, the standards and procedures for recruitment and work within the industry. Recent graduate discussion panels also indicated that on-campus presentations factored heavily in their choice of graduate roles and the personal contact and knowledge of the company this engendered.

Deciding on a presentation you would like to deliver does not have to be difficult or complex; presentations do not need to be any longer than 1 hour. We have provided a list of possible topics you may be interested in talking about. However, we encourage variety so if you have another topic you would like to present we are happy to discuss this with you.

A few of the topics for the 2008 guest presentations were:

  • Graduate Wages and Negotiating your Starting Salary
  • Developing and Enhancing your Career in the Workplace
  • Volunteering Internationally
  • Interview Skills: An Employers Perspective
  • Assessment Centres
  • What is a Management Consultant and can I be One

Guest presentations will be held over both semester 1 & 2. If you are interested in participating in this program, please feel free to contact us for available dates or additional information.
