The University of Queensland has a commitment to, and an established reputation for, leadership in research. Research is carried out in each of the University's departments, schools and numerous specialty research centres. New staff are eligible for a start up grant of $10,000 to help get established in their chosen field of research.
Innovative and dedicated teachers are encouraged and rewarded through a formal system of rewarding excellence in teaching. Staff feature well in the Australian Awards for University Teaching. Academic promotion is gained through demonstrated excellence in research, teaching and community involvement and these activities are underpinned by state-of-the-art computing.
General staff support all facets of the University's operations. UQ employs administrative, professional, technical and scientific, library, information technology, trades and services, and catering staff. There are opportunities to advance in each of these areas to senior executive roles in a large, diverse and complex corporate setting.
The University of Queensland is able to offer competitive and progressive conditions of appointment.
There are teaching and research sites throughout Queensland, with major campuses at St Lucia, Ipswich and Gatton. Other locations include teaching hospitals across the state, the Dental school in the Brisbane CBD, veterinary science centres, agricultural science farms, marine research stations on the Great Barrier Reef, physics research stations, seismography stations and a mine at Indooroopilly.
