Completing the Final Evaluation - Checklist of Key Steps

How do I complete the SPEF-R© at final evaluation?

As previously mentioned the final evaluation is completed in the last days of your student's practice placement. Generally you follow the same steps as you did for the halfway assessment. (Please refer to previous sections of this module if you need to a quick reminder of the details involved in the steps outlined below.)

Step One

Rate each item from the relevant learning objective from each domain and provide feedback and recommendations.

The evaluation form provides prompts to help you record this information in the correct place.
See the following diagrams.
Remember to have the full rating scale and your notes about your student's performance to refer to as the basis of your ratings/feedback. No half marks allowed!

Step Two

Determine if your student has passed the relevant learning objective for each domain, and subsequently, the evaluation overall.

Step Three

Complete the Summary feedback at final evaluation.
Remember to indicate the final result of pass or fail and provide a brief overall summary of your student's performance (see diagram following). Focus particularly on developments shown since halfway. There is no need to repeat previous specific feedback- your comments may address strengths, emerging skills and recommendations for future learning experiences. You don't need to include a summary detailing the nature of your workplace/role. Instead encourage your student to do this for himself using the Resumé Preparation Tool- Record of Professional Practice Placement Experience.
