Award Title
School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences New Investigator Research Award

Aims
To encourage new researchers to actively participate in research in the School.
To foster and reward excellence in research in the School.

Eligibility
School staff (0.5 appointment or higher) will be eligible for this award if they are within three years of being awarded their PhD, or within three years of starting their academic career at this or another university. School staff will not be eligible for this award if they have been successful in winning the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences Excellence in Research Award (Category 1 Award).

Criteria
The award will be based on research performance assessed by using a modified version of the University guidelines and funding formula. The funding formula has been modified to include grants applied for, the number of enrolled postgraduate students being supervised, and a greater contribution from publications. These criteria are designed to foster activity that promotes improved outcomes in research. The criteria and weightings are:

Grants applied for 20%
Successful grants ($ value) 20%
Publications (bibliographic record) 40%
Enrolled RHD Candidates 20%

Applications, providing information in relation to the criteria listed above, and presented in the format used for the Academic Portfolio, should be forwarded to:

Applications must be received no later than MONDAY, 17th NOVEMBER, 2008.

Applicants please note that data for the year 2007 only should be provided.

Award entitlement
Award winners will receive a certificate with the Award that will be presented at the school Postgraduate Research Day in December. Award winners are also eligible to receive $500 towards the cost of presenting at a conference held within Australia and $1000 toward a conference at which they present overseas.
