Profile

Name: Dr. Kathryn Page

B.App.Sci. in Environmental Management (Southern Cross University - Lismore).

PhD in soil science from the University of Queensland.

Position: Post-doctoral research fellow

Country of Origin: Australia

Project Outline: Currently I am examining the effect of agricultural management practices, such as minimum tillage and the amelioration of soil sodicity, on deep drainage.  Water lost from the surface of the soil profile via deep drainage can contribute to the ground water recharge, and in the long term, has the potential to lead to increases in the groundwater table and land salinisation.  This research will improve our understanding of how certain land management practices affect deep drainage, and potentially improve our ability to manage for and prevent land salinisation.
