Qualifications:
- LLB (The University of Melbourne), post-graduate studies in media law (MU)
- PhD (Griffith University) in journalism ethics.
Background:
Dr Rhonda Breit enjoys teaching media law and ethics within the school’s under-graduate and post-graduate programs. Rhonda lectures and researches in the field of media law and ethics, where she draws on her personal experience as a lawyer and journalist.In addition, Rhonda has taken part in a number of international workshops on media law and ethics, most recently delivering a keynote address at the First Asia-Pacific Regional Conference on Ethical Dimensions of the Information Society in Hanoi, Vietnam.
Throughout her career, Rhonda has worked as a journalist, legal adviser and has taught business law at Monash University, in Victoria. She taught at Deakin for almost six years. During this time she developed several courses in media law and ethics and managed the online renovation of Deakin's under-graduate and post-graduate journalism programs.
Research Interests:
Rhonda’s research focuses on the nexus between professional communication (journalism and public relations), law and ethics.
Before joining the University of Queensland, Rhonda co-ordinated the journalism program at Deakin University, in Victoria.
