You might also want to check out www.lode.com.au. Australia's first national database of university students, graduates and alumni. Employers mine Lode and approach candidates directly with emplyment opportunities. Please note there is no connection to the University of Queensland.
This site has hundreds of jobs and work experience opportunities. You'll need to register on the site to access them and select Arts, Humanities and Social Science and the category of "Advertising/Media" in the industry field for journalism and communication related opportunities. Check out their employment related workshops.
