Student Administrative Systems Support Projects Update – November 2012
UniFi Travel
This is a high profile project to replace the current Sharepoint system. The system will be integrated with the UniFi Financial system and tracks travel requests, approvals and reconciliations.
Current Status:
Went live on the 2nd July.
Bank Change
UQ are set to change from ANZ to the Commonwealth Bank. This will require EAD to make a series of customisations to the UniFi Financial system.
Current Status:
Majority of changes complete – baking and reconciliation all in production. Ahead of schedule - to be completed before end of 2012.
Online Applications Interface Development
The second considerably larger and more complex phase for International and Research applications is scheduled for 2012. SASS are assisting with the design and are responsible for the development of the SI‐net portion of the integration between SITS and SI‐net. SFG are tasked to take on the functional support of the system.
Current Status:
All four new interfaces for Online Applications developed and still waiting for Tribal to complete their development before commencing end to end testing..
Student Functional Group looking to confirm roles & responsibilities, training requirements and assisting the Lifecycle team with project.
Student Functional Group has taken on extra responsibility to lead the upgrade of environments as well as production support and assistance to the Lifecycle team.
UQ Advantage
Undergraduate Advantage Award program recognises and records student involvement in co-curricular activities. This system will administer and allow students to register and record progress in SI-net.
Current Status:
Went live at the start of August.
Implementing enhancements
Interfacing SI-net with Databee (Exams)
Development for SI-net to Databee interface completed and in production
ICTE Interface – Get UQ Student Number
Expect to leverage development for the Online Applications Interface for the get UQ student number interface required for ICTE.
Current Status:
Development done, ready for testing.
Tracking Completion of OH&S Module
Changes in SI-net to allow tracking of completion of mandatory Occupational Health and Safety tutorial.
Current Status:
Went live at the start of Semester Two.
Some additional report requirements requested.
Class Timetable – Syllabus Plus to SI-net Interface Investigation
The Syllabus Plus package has been chosen to manage UQ class timetables from 2013. Student information will flow to Syllabus Plus via the Operational Data Store (ODS). This will be coordinated by Vern Bawden’s team (ITS), with assistance from EAD. There is also a requirement for Class Timetable information to flow back to SI-net for timetable display and class signon processing.
The new interface will be required by the end of 2012 and will require changes to the SI-net system. The investigation will aim to quantify these requirements and we will need to commence development immediately to ensure we meet the schedule.
Current Status:
In Progress – to be complete by late November 2012
Interface from Syllabus Plus to SI-net in testing.
Student Placements System Investigation
Implementation of a student placement system was nominated as the top priority item by the Student Administration Managers (SAMs). We have received code from the University of South Australia, for their SPS, which could be used as a basis for development.
Current Status:
In progress with two streams: (1) Confirmation of UQ Requirements and (2) Investigation of the capability in the UniSA system.
Proposed Stage 1
- External Students 2013 Electives recording;
- Phase 2 GP Clinic Rotation students (rotation 3, 2013 on) to record their GP Clinic, and
- Phase 2 Medicine in Society Rotation students (rotation 3, 2013 on) to be allocated to their preferred placement;
SIPass Integration
Changes in SI-net to allow integration with SIPass rather than UniCard for Student Card Information.
Current Status:
New interface design complete. Development to be complete by March 2013.

Changes for Legislation
Urgent mini project – update of eCAF Jira 7673 – Changes mandated for November 19th when open enrolment “eCAF updates for students not undertaking studies within Australia (7673)”
Implemented on schedule.
UQ College changes for Graduations
Changes to the Graduations system to support UQ College implemented.
