The University of Queensland Union offers corporate catering and function services as well as a wide range of food and retail outlets on campus.

Main Course offers a variety of food and beverage options for all taste buds. There’s a range of options including pastas, rice dishes, burgers, hot food, roasts, salads, sandwiches, noodles, dumplings and a make-your-own sandwich, salad or wrap section. Our food are prepared freshly daily on-site.

U-Sushi offers a large variety of sushi made fresh daily on site each day. Prices start from just $2.40 and a selection of brown rice sushi is also available.

Come to the Red Room with your mates for a drink and grab come hot chips, nachos, steak or the famous Red Room burger. You can chill out on the Red Room deck or play pool. On a Roll Bakery offers mouth-watering breakfast, morning tea and lunch options like bagels, bacon & cheese wraps, croissants, gourmet sandwiches, pastries, pies, donuts, cakes & slices. They are conveniently located in the centre of the UQU complex opposite STA Travel. Cold drinks are also available here.

The Lolly Shop has everything you need for an afternoon pick-me-up. There is 100 Pick 'n' Mix lollies, nuts and dried fruit to choose from. Not only that, they also sell cigarettes, mobile phone recharge cards, international calling cards, convenience items, a large selection of drinks, Frozen Coke, cookies & biscuits, Asian snacks & noodles, ice cream and chips.

Physiol Eatery & Café has everything you need. The café serves coffee, hot chocolate, tea, iced beverages and frappes. Whilst the Eatery offers a large variety of breakfast and lunch options such as a make-your-own sandwich and wrap station, sushi, rice & pasta dishes, roasts meals & sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, chips, sausage rolls & pies, snacks, ice cream, cakes & slices and cold drinks. There is also a large indoor and outdoor seating area for you to sit, relax and enjoy.

Darwin's offers a casual dining experience in a relaxing setting where you will find one of the best coffee on campus and a delicious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack menu. They also offer alcoholic beer and wine, perfect for after class or work drinks with colleagues.

Our Food

We believe that good quality produce is the key to a good quality burger. We source fresh, premium produce and use healthy ingredients. We support Australian farmers. We believe in sustainable and ethical farming. Animals should live on farms and in barns - not cages, We only use free range chicken, free range eggs, free range mayonnaise and stall free bacon and pork. Our bread is baked fresh 7 days a week and our packaging is biodegradable. 

Wordsmiths – The Writer's Café

Wordsmiths CafeNestled between the Co-op Bookshop and the new Learning Innovation Building, Wordsmiths – The Writers Café tree-shaded café tables are set amongst endearing sandstone sculptures by Rhyl Hinwood.

Bar Merlo

Located at the Library, in the Duhig Building facing the Great Court, is open for business. It serves coffee and snacks such as soup, pasta, wraps, foccacia and cakes from 7am-8pm, Monday to Friday (semester hours) and 9am-5pm weekends. Catering is also available.

Saint Lucy Café Et Cucina

Created by Swedish duo Hans Pettersson and Jens Holland who operate Hillstone St Lucia and hundred acre bar at St Lucia Golf Links, Saint Lucy specialises in trattoria-style dining, relaxed hospitality and Italian fare. It is open seven days a week for breakfast from 6.30am and lunch from noon. Dinner will also be available throughout the week with detailed opening hours available on their website. Catering across campus is also available as well as events onsite for up to 200 guests.

The Deck

The Deck is a coffee cart located just outside the UQ Sport & Fitness Centre (Building 25). Besides offering a range of coffee options as well as other hot/cold drinks, The Deck also sells a range of sweet treats and snacks. Opening hours are Mon - Fri: 7.30am – 11.30am (longer hours during graduation weeks).

Genies is a cafe restaurant in the Queensland Bioscience Precinct. It provides table service or takeaway, and can cater for functions of any size, any day or evening. Genies is open for meals from 7am Monday to Friday, with a breakfast menu available from 7am to 9am. Ph: 3871 1590 or ext 62220 or

Cafe Grinders

An outdoor café, which also caters to surrounding buildings. Situated on level 2 of the Sir James Foots Building Café Grinders offers breakfast, light meals, salad, sushi, sweets and coffee. Grinders is licensed to sell alcohol on Thursdays from 3-8pm. Opening hours during semester: 7.30am-6pm Monday to Thursday, and 7.30am-4pm Friday. Mr Beans Coffee

These carts are located next to the Main Refectory, Physiol Refectory and Darwins Café, offering a wide variety of coffee styles (including flavoured).

Cafe NanoCafe Nano

Specialises in the finest coffee and the tastiest toasted sandwiches on campus. They also make ice lattes, iced coffees, iced chocolates and milkshakes. Located at the A.I.B.N building (building 75), corner of College and Cooper roads. Opening hours all year round, except Public Holidays: 7.00am-4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Belltop – For serious coffee drinkers

Come and experience the best coffee on Campus at the Belltop. Overlooking the University sports fields, Belltop provides the perfect spot to study, unwind or catchup with friends.

Serving Toby’s Estate Coffee, Belltop baristas are serious about getting your coffee just right. There is also an awesome selection of food from breakfast to afternoon.

Open Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm. Located on Level 3 of the Colin Clark Building (39).
