Purpose and value of scholarships:

The Warren Braxton Bannister Undergraduate bursary was established in 2004 and is maintained by an endowment from the estate of the late Warren Braxton Bannister for undergraduate study in Political Science, Government or any other Social Science. More information on Warren Braxton Bannister.

Six bursaries may be awarded annually and the value of each bursary is $3000.

Eligibility: 

The bursaries are open to full-time students at the University of Queensland who are enrolled in, or have completed at least 16 units towards:

  1. the Bachelor of Social Science;or
  2. the Bachelor of International Studies; or
  3. the Bachelor of Arts majoring in a field related to social science, political science or government; or
  4. a dual program including one of the above.  

Criteria for the awards: 

The bursaries are awarded to applicants showing the greatest merit, as demonstrated by:

  1. financial need (documentation required); and
  2. academic achievement in courses undertaken in the program which has deemed them eligible for application; and
  3. personal qualities, including leadership potential; and
  4. such other evidence as may be deemed relevant to future professional success.
