Faculty Award for the Enhancement of Student Learning

The Awards:

A maximum of two awards of $5000 will be made. The award will recognise learning and teaching support programs and services that make an outstanding contribution to the quality of student learning and the quality of the student experience. A project/initiative nominated for an award should be an innovative development that has resulted in improvements to the quality of the student learning environment across a single discipline or organisational unit.

Application Procedure:

Send completed application forms, signed by the Head of School, together with supporting documentation to Tanya Negerevich (t.negerevich@uq.edu.au), Faculty Learning Support Officer in the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, by 5pm on Monday, 12 September 2011.

Required:

  1. An overview (max. 1 page, single spaced, and 12 point font) that describes the aims of the project, and the institutional context and that summarises the claims that follow relating to the selection criteria.
  2. A written statement addressing each of the four criteria in turn. No more than one page on each of the following Selection Criteria (max. 4 pages, single spaced, 12 point font), showing how the project ensures:

> Distinctiveness, coherence and clarity of purpose
> Influence on student learning and engagement
> Breadth of Impact
> Concern for equity and diversity

  1. 1 page summary of evaluations demonstrating evidence of effectiveness in enhancing student learning.
  2. Confidential reference (max. 1 page, single spaced, 12 point font) from the Head of School on the contribution of the project to the enhancement of student learning with respect to the four selection criteria.

Optional:

  • Peer review or reference (max. 1 page)
  • Copies of positive communications (e.g. emails, qualitative comments on TEVALs) (max. 2 pages)

Presentation:

Awardees will be required to give a public presentation outlining the project.
