Summer Semester staff workshops - What's new in Blackboard 9.1?

ITS is running 2 workshops for course instructors who are teaching during the Summer Semester. These workshops will consist of short demonstrations showing the main differences in the new version, with over an hour of hands-on (uninstructed)  time for staff to experiment in their own summer semester courses, or within “playpen” courses.  ITS staff will be on hand to assist and answer any questions throughout the hands-on session.

  • Dates: Monday 21st November 10am – 12pm; and Tuesday 22nd November 10am - 12pm
  • Venue: Room 241, building 47A (Sir James Foots Building); St Lucia campus
  • Hosted By: ITS

What do I need to bring? If you already have access to your Summer Semester courses, you can use this workshop time to prepare your course sites.  Bring any course materials (documents etc) on a USB that you would like to upload.  If you don’t have access to your course site you will be able to use a playpen course to participate.  You can also bring a USB with a range of documents and files to practice adding content.  (Please see below about getting access to your course site if you have not already applied).

Booking places: These sessions are “drop-in” and you do not need to book a place.  We do recommend that you arrive on time to listen to the demonstrations of the main differences.  Also, although the room is equipped with plenty of computers, please be aware that demand may mean that some people will have to share a PC.

Important: Please note that these sessions are specifically for staff teaching in the Summer Semester.  A full range of face-to-face and online training will be available to staff teaching in Semester 1, 2012 before the teaching period begins.

**To request your Blackboard course site, or to copy some or all of the content from a previous semester’s course, go to the Staff tab in Blackboard, click on 'Course/Community Site Request Forms', and follow the prompts. You can choose to use a previous semester's course as the template, thus copying forward previous content and layout. If you first want to see a previous semester’s offering, contact the ITS Helpdesk (x56000, or email bbadmin@its.uq.edu.au).
