What is Communication?
Communication lies at the heart of our contemporary information economies. Consequently, studying communication prepares you for a whole host of exciting careers in the mass media, the world of corporate communication, government communication or community media. Learning to become a communication professional prepares you to become an expert communicator, a leader of public opinion and positions you as someone able to work at the forefront of our rapidly changing communication-driven society.
What job can I get?
Communication is an expanding area of employment and the Bachelor of Communication teaches you how to fit into a wide variety of careers in government, business and the community sector. Depending on the major you select, you graduate with skills in media production and writing; strategic communication; advertising; public relations; mediation; consultancy; intercultural, interpersonal and crisis communication; and/or media analysis.
Communication graduates will find a variety of career opportunities in a wide range of organisations. Employment exists in the global mass media machine, the expanding world of the internet and digital media, government and business communication and in community service organisations; writing, design, production and strategising in a wide range of media formats, including the web, advertising, public relations, organisational communication, social marketing, publishing, event management, mediation, consultancy and training in intercultural, interpersonal and crisis communication.
