SI-Net MOVE TO ITS
From 1 January 2012 the SI-net Functional Group will move from SASD to ITS. In addition to the changed reporting relationship, this move actions a recommendation of the recent SASD Review, suggesting the Group's expertise be brought to bear across multiple student administrative systems.

NEW EXAMS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Following a recent tender process, Databee Exams Manager was chosen to replace the existing exams management software. The new system will streamline exam management processes, including exam timetabling, at UQ. The new system features personalised exam timetables for students, electronic exam paper submission, web-based forms and automated processes.
Exams Manager will be implemented by March 2012 with a Semester One final exam timetable published in May. Information sessions will be conducted in February/March for academic and administrative staff involved with the preparation of exam papers and other exam processes.
EXTENDED OPENING HOURS FOR SPECIAL/SUPP EXAMINATION PERIOD
The Student Centres will be open for extended hours during the examination period 14 – 16 December 2011 to accommodate examination enquiries immediately before examination start time and for a limited period after the start time for the final session on each day.

EXAMINATIONS BUSINESS PROCESS CALENDAR – 2012
SATURDAY MID-SEMESTER EXAM DATES – 2012
Faculties were consulted on the preference for Saturday semester examination dates in 2012 because several Saturdays are not available due to public holidays and the mid semester break. There were differing views across faculties, with week 5 considered ‘too early’ by some, whereas week 9 was considered ‘too late’ for others. A compromise position was required and the approved dates for mid-semester examinations for semesters 1 and 2 2012 are set out below. While a particular week for an examination can be requested by Schools, there is no guarantee that the examination can or will be scheduled on that Saturday, because of constraints imposed by student clashes, room resources etc. Course coordinators should consider this when preparing examination papers.
