SASD SEMINAR SERIES - “UQ STUDENT SURVEY FRAMEWORK” - CANCELLED
 
The SASD seminar “UQ Student Survey Framework” scheduled for Friday 19 August 2011 July has been cancelled, and will be rescheduled for after the next meeting of the Student Steering Committee, which is due to be held in early September.

Calculators in examinations
 
School academic and professional staff are reminded to ensure that, where applicable, the calculator type/s permitted for use in examinations are entered in the electronic course profile for semester 2 2011 courses, for the information of students.
 
Calculator types permitted in examinations are:
-          Casio FX82 series only
-          Casio FX82 series or UQ approved and labelled
 
 
SEMESTER 2 2011 MID-SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS ON SATURDAYS
 
Please be aware that examination schedules for the Semester 2 2011 mid-semester examinations to be scheduled outside of scheduled class times are due in Examinations Section by Monday, 1 August, together with a copy of approval from the President of the Academic Board.
 
These examinations will be scheduled for one of the following dates:-
-          Saturday, 3 September (week 6)
-          Saturday, 10 September (week 7)
-          Saturday, 17 September (week 8)
 
A list of those courses with current approval for mid-semester examinations outside of class times has been distributed to Schools for reference.  The Examinations Section will schedule the examinations and allocate a room, as well as appoint invigilators for the exam supervision (the cost of which is to be reimbursed by the School); all other arrangements will be the responsibility of the School.

SEMESTER 2 2011 END OF SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS – ECPS DATA
 
For exams held during the central examination period details must be entered into the Assessment section of the electronic course profile to ensure examinations are scheduled as required.  Schools are asked to review the reports available on the MIS Reportal (see Schedule of Central and School Examinations report under Student > Admin> Examinations) to ensure examination data in the published course profiles is correct for examination scheduling purposes.  ECPS assessment fields will lockdown from Monday, 1 August, and constraint fields will lockdown on Tuesday, 16 August 2011.

UQ-LINK ACCESS PROGRAM
 
The UQ-Link Access Program provides 5 bonus points to assist current year 12 and gap year students who have experienced significant financial hardship with entry to their chosen UQ program. Approved applicants will also receive a $500 Start-up Bursary upon enrolment in a UQ program and be considered for one of a limited number of UQ-Link Access Scholarships worth $3000 p.a. for up to 4 years.  Online applications for the 2012 UQ-Link Access Program are now open and will close 31 October 2011.
 
 
ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
 
High achieving Year 12 and gap year students are encouraged to apply for UQ’s 2012 Academic Scholarship program. Over 300 scholarships, ranging in value from $6000 for the first year of study to $12000 a year over 5 years, are awarded each year. For more information and to apply online please go to the UQ Scholarships website at www.uq.edu.au/scholarships . Applications close 31 October and successful applicants will be notified within a week of Year 12 results being released. Your assistance in promoting the Academic Scholarship program will be appreciated
 
 
SI-NET TRAINING
 
Training schedules for July and August are available for enrolment via the TEDI Staff Development website. Training in SI-net Fundamentals is mandatory for any staff member who requires update or advanced access to SI-net.
 
A schedule for the remainder of 2011 will be circulated as soon as this is confirmed.
