STAFF CHANGES - SASD
SASD farewells one of its long serving staff members this week with the retirement of Mary Williams. Mary has held a variety of positions over the years and we thank her for the contributions she has made through her work at UQ and wish her a relaxed and rewarding retirement.
GATTON STAFF CHANGES – STUDENT SERVICES
Julie McKenzie has been appointed as Manager of Student Services, while Cheryl Brugman and Krista Lee have moved into the student officer positions within the Directorate. The team is working hard together to provide services across the range of support areas, including counselling, learning, disability and international welfare, as well as careers and employment advice.
2011 YEARBOOK
Programs Information Unit is currently finalising the 2011 UQ Yearbook. The Yearbook is the official publication of The University of Queensland.
The 2011 Yearbook will be printed this month in a professionally bound hard copy format, and circulated to Senators at the meeting of 14 April 2011. A small number of complimentary copies will be distributed after 14 April, and the Yearbook will be available for purchase by interested organisational units and external stakeholders.
Further details will be available after the Yearbook is published.

ECPS AND SEMESTER 1 2011 EXAMINATIONS
School academic and professional staff are reminded that details for both central and school-based end of Semester 1 2011 examinations must be entered into the Assessment section of the Semester 1 2011 electronic course profile (ECP), as ‘end-of-semester’ examinations. Schools are asked to check the data before finalisation and publication of the course profile/s to ensure details are entered appropriately and correctly.
The
Schedule of Central and School Examinations Report is available via the MIS Reportal (Standard Reports > Student > Admin > Examinations) at
http://www.mis.admin.uq.edu.au/ . Examinations Section will download the ECPS data on Tuesday, 22 March 2011 to commence production of the examination timetables.
SASD SEMINAR – EXAMINATIONS AND ASSESSMENT – 1 APRIL
The SASD Seminar on Examinations and Assessment is scheduled for Friday, 1 April 2011 and all staff are invited to attend. The aim of the session is to focus on the administrative aspects of examinations with a view to improving business processes and communications with academic and administrative staff. The session will be held in the Senate Room 2:00pm – 3:00pm.
Further details will be distributed soon to faculty and school staff.
SASD SEMINAR – PROGRAM APPROVAL PROCESS – 4 APRIL
Administrative staffs from faculties and schools are invited to attend an SASD information session on the procedures relating to the program approval process.
The aim of the session is to focus on the administrative aspects of the program approval process with a view to improving business processes and communications.
Faculties are asked to extend this invitation to their staff and to encourage attendance by those whose responsibilities include preparation of submissions for new programs, changes to programs and program rule changes.
The session will be held as follows:

The session will be presented by the Director of Academic Administration, Ms Karen Wheeler.

REMINDER – FEES DUE DATE – Semester 1, 2011
Semester 1 2011 fees are due on Friday, 11 March 2011. Census date for Semester 1 is Thursday, 31 March 2011.
Students must pay all their Semester 1 fees by 11 March 2011 to avoid the $100 late payment fee.
For internally sponsored students, Schools are asked to ensure that before the fees due date for Semester 1, Finance and Business Services is provided with a UQ Scholarship Payment form for Semester 1.
Students who have not paid their fees by 11 March 2011 may have their non-effective enrolment in Semester 1 2011 cancelled. Students can log into mySI-net and check their online invoices for outstanding amounts.
DEEWR UNIT OF STUDY SCHEDULES
Under HESA,the due date for publication by the University of DEEWR Unit of Study schedules (courses at UQ) for Semester 2 2011, TP4, TP5, TP6, and Summer Semester 2011/2012 is 1 April 2011.
This is a reminder that the deadline for the update of SI-net Course Catalogue data for courses to be offered in these semesters/teaching periods is Friday 18 March 2011.
After the publication of DEEWR Unit of Study schedules, courses are not to be added to/deleted from the Course Catalogue and changes are not to be made to the unit of study ID, unit value, and the course title long without DEEWR approval of the variation (via Student Fees).
