EXTENDED OPENING HOURS DURING CENTRAL EXAM PERIOD
 
·                University Health Service, St Lucia campus
 
University Health Services on the St Lucia campus will be open 8:15am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (last appointment 4:30pm) during the central examination period.  A registered nurse will be on site between 9am to 4pm on Saturday 13 June and Saturday 20 June 2009 for exam related consultations and certificates only. Staff should remind students that if they believe that their performance during an examination is affected by illness, students must obtain a medical certificate to support their claims within the specified deadline.
 
·                Student Centres
 
The Student Centres will be open for extended hours during the examination period to accommodate examination enquiries immediately before examination start time and for a limited period after examination start times.  Opening hours are listed below.  Please note that no cashiering will be available on Saturdays. Students who do not have a valid student card with them can verify their identity prior to an examination at the Student Centre.

POSTPONEMENT OF ACADEMIC PROGRESSION SEMINAR
 
The SASD seminar on Academic Progression scheduled for 1 June 2009 has been postponed to Semester 2. Once the seminar has been rescheduled, the new date will be advised.
 
NEWS FROM RECORDS & ARCHIVES MANAGEMENT SERVICES
 
Records & Archives Management Services hosted a successful workshop on TRIM WebDrawer Tips & Tricks on 21 May as part of national Information Awareness Month activities.
 
36 staff members attended from various faculties, schools and divisions.  Small brochures were handed out to attendees.
 
Feedback was positive and additional training requirements identified were:
 
·                Archival Management/Disposition of Documents after Digitisation
·                Data Entry Protocols and Naming Conventions
 
RAMS record breaking email capture!
 
9 days in May saw the processing of almost 5000 emails which is the greatest number of emails captured over a nine day period since the IED scanning operations began in September 2007.
 
CLASS SIGN-ON
 
Sign-On for Semester 2 class registration will open up to staff on the 29th of June.  From this date, academic and general staff will be able to register only classes which have been included in the Semester 2 timetable on mySI-net.  In order to avoid placing too much pressure on the system (which can result in a crash), staff are requested not to open their classes for student Sign-On before the dates allocated for their faculty below.
