Commonwealth Learning Scholarships – Update  (7-04, 27)

As a consequence of a recent government funding initiative, the University of Queensland will be offering a number of Commonwealth funded scholarships to full-time undergraduate students who are high academic achievers despite experiencing financial hardship.

Scholarships that will be available include:

·             Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (CECS) of $2000/year

·             Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (CAS) of $4000/year

The Scholarships will only be available to Australian citizens, or holders of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa, who are full-time undergraduate students.

Selection will be based on academic excellence and financial need. Additional factors such as educational disadvantage, membership of a specific equity group and/or significantly adverse personal circumstances may also be taken into account.

The Federal Government has provided universities with guidelines under which these scholarships are to be administered. A policy framework covering the application, selection and offer processes for the Commonwealth Learning Scholarship Program is currently being developed by UQ in light of these guidelines. Details regarding eligibility criteria, study requirements, scholarship conditions and an application form will shortly be available on the myAdvisor website {http://www.uq.edu.au/myadvisor/}.
