Rhizomes VI seeks to bring together alternative perspectives to promote diversity in the study of languages and cultures. It is an opportunity for scholars with an interest in other languages, other texts, other mediums, other voices, other cultures, other ways and the Other (whatever, whoever and wherever that may be) to engage with peers and share their work in a friendly, interdisciplinary environment.
We are now inviting submissions for individual and panel presentations. Each speaker will be allocated 20 minutes to present and 10 minutes to respond to questions. Submissions from early career researchers and current post-graduates are especially welcome as are proposals using an innovative format. Papers may be considered for publication in the international peer-reviewed journal, Critical Inquiry in Language Studies.
Keywords for discussion may include: transnational, mediation, negotiation, alternate, liminal, border crossing, deviant, femininity, masculinity, intergenerational, comparative, fictional, factional, identity, adaptation, cross-cultural...
Abstracts (150 words) for papers and panel proposals should be sent by 1 October 2010 to rhizomes@uq.edu.au. Accepted submissions will be notified by 15 October 2010. Early bird registration closes 17 December 2010 and final registrations are due by 28 January 2011.
