Our mission
The mission of the Research and Research Training Division (RRTD) is to provide an integrated high quality administrative service to enable the University to achieve its goals in relation to research, scholarship and postgraduate education and training. RRTD is responsible for research grants administration (including animal and human ethical clearances), advice in relation to all University research, postgraduate research scholarships, and the administration of research higher degrees.
The Research and Research Training Division reports to the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research).

Research Grants Unit [Contact Details]
Research grants are available from a variety of different sources including Federal Government, State Government, public sector, private sector and charitable organisations. The Research and Research Training Division provides weekly updates on funding opportunities through the Research Bulletin and the Ongoing List.
Funding opportunities can also be searched for and accessed online through the Search databases and in hardcopy through the Australian Grants Register, which is available from Faculty offices.

Research Higher Degrees Unit [Contact Details]
The Research Higher Degrees Unit supports the academic activities of the UQ Graduate School and the University community by administering the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Philosophy (MPhil) programs.

Animal Welfare Unit [Contact Details]
The Animal Welfare Officer is responsible for the University Animal Experimentation Ethics Committee (UAEC) and its sub-committees. All work involving the use of animals must be reviewed by an Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) and no animal experimentation or teaching can take place without a current Animal Ethics Clearance.

Human Ethics Unit [Contact Details]
As part of the design process for any research project involving human subjects or human-related materials, University of Queensland researchers must investigate the need for ethical clearance and obtain it when required. The following pages outline the principles of ethical research, and the procedures for applying for approval.

Research Legal Services [Contact Details]
For negotiation and preparation of research contracts, to assert the University's interests in relation to issues such as intellectual property, the protection of student interests, and academic publication.

Research Information Management Unit [Contact Details]
The Information Management Unit (IMU) of the Research and Research Training Division collects and analyses data on research performance measures, such as publications and grants data.
