Publications for the HERDC are defined by the categories - book, book chapter, journal article or conference paper. Each category has its own set of rules governing what is and is not eligible for inclusion in the collection.
The Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research weights each of these categories. For example, a book is given a weighting of 5 publications points whereas a journal article is only given a weighting of 1. It is reasoned that a book will require substantially more time and research to produce than will a journal article.
Information about category proformas can be found on the Draft Proformas, eSpace Proformas and Checklists page.
