GAMS
GAMS (Grant Application Management System) is the ARC system used for preparing and submitting grant applications to the ARC. This system is being phased out in 2009.
Please note that during 2009 GAMS will continue to be used for the submission of assessments and rejoinders (where applicable), for those already submitted through GAMS. This includes Australian Laureate Fellowships 2009, Future Fellowships 2009 and Discovery Projects 2010. All Final Reports will continue to be submitted in GAMS during 2009.
In order to get access to GAMS you will require a GAMS ID and password, as these are used to log in to the system. Please see the RMS section if you intend to submit an application to the ARC. If you require access to assess applications or submit final reports in 2009 please apply for a GAMS ID, otherwise please request an ID for RMS from the website (as outlined below.)
RMS
RMS (Research Management System) is the new (March 2009) ARC system for preparing and submitting a grant application to the ARC.
Existing Gams Users
If you had a GAMS user account prior to January 2009, your GAMS ID and profile have been copied to RMS. You will need to reset your password to allow you to log into RMS. Click the "reset password" link on the RMS login page and follow the prompts. You will be asked for your username, this is the same as your GAMS ID with all letters capitalised.
Once you have entered a valid user name you will receive an email with a link to reset your password. Follow the instructions in the email and you will be able to login. Please note that password reset requests expire within a couple of hours. Once you are logged in you can change your password through the "RMS User Account Details" link on your home page. Should you experience any difficulties please contact rms@research.uq.edu.au. Do not request a new account as this will not work if the email address used is the same as your GAMS email address.
If you cannot remember or have lost your user name you can request a reminder email be sent from the RMS login page. Simply click on "Retrieve User Name" and enter your email address. A reminder email will be sent to the email address recorded in ARC systems. If you no longer have access to your email address or have changed email address please contact rms@research.uq.edu.au for assistance.
Updating your Personal Details
When you first log in to RMS, please check and update your client details using the links under 'My Details' on your home page. Up-to-date contact details, particularly email address, are critical to ensure you can continue to use RMS. In addition these links enable you to update employment, classification and qualification information, all of which is used to pre-populate sections of your proposals.
Please verify that your administering organisation details are correct (Personal Details, Organisation Details tab) and use the "Request Transfer" link to update if required.
Requesting an RMS User Account
Researchers and International/Industry Partners who did not have a GAMS ID prior to January 2009 can apply for an RMS account directly from the RMS login page.
UQ Employees and Adjunct Staff Members should request their 'Organisation that will administer the account' as "The University of Queensland". Adjunct staff members can also include their 'Organisation that is this users principal affiliation' as their principal employer.
International/Industry Partners should request their 'Organisation that will administer the account' as the "Australian Research Council" and add their actual 'Organisation that is this users principal affiliation' as their employer.
