Thank you for accessing the University of Queensland's electronic Instruction Sheet for research contracts and agreements. This Instruction Sheet is specifically for use in requesting the review of research agreements and contracts. If your agreement or contract is not research-related (for example general legal services or consultancy), please contact the University Legal Office.
As you will be aware, contracts and agreements involving the University require legal review before the University enters into them on a formal basis. This Instruction Sheet provides a straightforward means by which researchers can provide key background information on draft contracts and agreements, so as to facilitate the process of legal review and negotiation within UQ.
This Instruction Sheet is completed electronically to which supporting documents (such as the draft contract/agreement) can be attached. It is then ready for on-forwarding to the Faculty or Institute Manager of Innovation and Commercial Development (MICD), either via e-mail or hard copy (e-mail format is preferred). The MICD will review the case and consult with the researcher for further information if required. The MICD will then forward the Instruction Sheet, research contract/agreement and any other supporting documents through to the University's Research and Research Training Division (RRTD), adding specific briefing comments as necessary.
When the legal and administrative review of the contract/agreement is finalised within RRTD, it is referred to the RRTD Director for signature, who is the authorised signatory for research contracts.
