International Rainforest Tourism Symposium - Palm Cove, Cairns - Call for Papers
Tuesday, 22 June to Thursday, 24 June 2010
Hosted by The Centre for Tropical Tourism Studies and James Cook University - Rainforest tourism in a time of change
Rainforests in both tropical and temperate areas are important tourism resources but their study by tourism scholars has been largely ignored. The aim of this symposium is to provide a platform to bring together researchers interested in rainforest tourism to share ideas and research findings. The symposium will also provide an opportunity to share ideas with researchers who are involved with rainforest management and rainforest science.

ANSTO - seminar on Irradiation Technology for Australia: the First and the Next 40 Years
Tuesday, 30 March to Wednesday, 31 March 2010
ANSTO’s cobalt-60 small scale irradiator, GATRI, has been in operation for 40 years since it's first routine operation in March 1970. It has performed a range of R&D and specialised irradiation services for a variety of users. The age of the facility means that ANSTO will be closing GATRI in 2015. As part of the development of our scientific case for a new irradiation facility, we will be holding a Seminar entitled "Irradiation Technology for Australia: the first and the next 40 years" from 30 to 31 March 2010 at Lucas Heights in Sydney.
On the Seminar program we are providing an opportunity for users of ANSTO’s high dose irradiation and dosimetry services to present information on their current use of irradiation and dosimetry and anticipated future needs that may influence the case for, and specifications of, a new irradiation facility at ANSTO. The audience is expected to comprise other Australian users of irradiation services, operators and technology suppliers. We are inviting AINSE members to participate in this Seminar and if so desire to make a formal presentation.
If you are interested in participating in this seminar please reply to Ms Rhiannon Still,
rps@ansto.gov.au no later than 1 December 2009.
