Research Accounting Section is responsible for a broad range of duties associated with the financial administration of specific research funds, Co-operative Research Centres (CRC), Research Infrastructure Block Grants (RIBG) and Linkage Infrastructure Equipment and Facilities Grants (LIEF). Some of the major responsibilities include:
- the establishment and maintenance and closure of general ledger accounts (Source Code 4 Research and CRC accounts and 1-20 prefixed RIBG and LIEF grants);
- the allocation of grant funds to specific research grant accounts;
- the preparation of financial statements to acquit funds to external grantors;
- the preparation of operating statements and associated workpapers for the University's annual audited financial statements;
- the monitoring of a debtors system established for specific research grants;
- the issue of tax invoices to external grantors for specific research grants;
- the preparation of various research statistical returns (including the DEST Higher Education Research Financial Data Collection - Research Quantum);
- acting as a contact for faculties, schools, centres and institutes in matters relating to the financial administration of their research grants.
