In addition to these companies, commercialisation services are also available from Uniseed Pty Ltd. Uniseed was established as a joint venture pre-seed and seed fund between UQ Holdings Ltd/UniQuest Pty Ltd and Melbourne Ventures Pty Limited (formerly Melbourne University Private), the commercial arms of The University of Queensland and the University of Melbourne, respectively.

Commercial research agreements through any of the following entities are counted for the purposes of the Institutional Grants Scheme.
The Research and Innovation Division administers research agreements on behalf of the University. In general, commercial research administered through this section will be research projects
- that are aimed at public good outcomes;
- where the intellectual property will be in the public domain;
- where the intellectual property has little or no commercial value;
- that may be commercial but where the agreement does not cover commercialisation options other than a first right of refusal in favour of the client, with actual commercialisation strategies and rates to be negotiated at a later date.
IMBcom Pty Ltd is the University's commercialsation company for the Institute for Molecular Bioscience (IMB). IMBcom commercialises the IMB’s research outcomes by creating spin-off companies based on IMB research products, contracting industry research collaborations, protecting and managing IMB's intellectual property portfolio and developing industry alliances.
JK Tech Pty Ltd is The University’s commercialisation company for the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre (JKMRC) located at Isles Road, Indooroopilly. It markets technology developed at JKMRC, principally in the fields of mining, mineral processing and coal preparation, including modelling, simulation and process control software.
UniSeed is a family of pre-seed and seed venture funds bridging the gap between the research in Australian universities and research organisations and the the commercial community of venture capital and investment.
UniQuest Pty Limited is UQ's main technology transfer company. It commercialises intellectual property created at the University across a broad range of disciplines, provides consulting, testing and advisory services, and manages international aid projects.
UniQuest, IMBcom and JKTech manage research agreements that cover the commercial development of pre-existing University intellectual property
- where the ultimate outcome is aimed at developing and commercialising a product or service;
- that involve University patents;
- where there is exposure to high commercial risks;
- where the intellectual property provisions detail commercialisation strategies and requirements, royalty rates or licence fees.
