 UQ Academic Title Holder Research Fund (ATHRF) - Now Open

About the Scheme

The UQ ATHRF scheme is a means by which the University recognises the important contributions that Academic Title Holders (ATHs) make to the overall research productivity and excellence of the University and aims to promote further engagement of ATHs in research.

The scheme adopts a co-investment model to help build and consolidate research alliances between the University and the public and private health systems while also contributing to a culture of collaborative investment in health research.

The maximum amount of central funding per eligible application is $20,000 contingent upon the awarded funds being matched (at least) dollar-for-dollar in cash from a source external to the University (Co-Funder).

The general objectives of the scheme are:

  • To provide research support for ATHs in developing a program of research;
  • To encourage co-investment in this research from groups such as hospital trust funds, foundations, industry partners and philanthropic sources;
  • To facilitate research collaborations between ATHs and staff within UQ Schools, Centres and Institutes; and
  • To foster new research activity, driven by ATHs, with the potential to secure future external competitive funding from sources such as the NHMRC.

The duration of funding for successful UQ ATHRF grants will be up to two (2) years. ATHs may hold only one funded UQ ATHRF as first-named (lead) Chief Investigator (CI) over the life-time of the scheme.

Closing Date

Applications must be submitted to UQR&I by close of business, Friday 12 October 2012.
