Internal closing date for UQ Expression of Interest (EOI) Forms: no later than 29 August 2011.
UQ internal closing date for full applications: 9 September 2011.
Background
The Queensland Government has recently opened applications under the Smart Futures Fund – Co-Investment Fund (CIF).
The key objective of the CIF is to support Queensland applicants seeking supplementary funding for proposals that have already obtained Commonwealth Government or philanthropic organisation funding approval.
The CIF scheme will provide grants of between $200,000 and $2 million over one to two years. State Government funding is to be matched by a cash contribution at a rate of 1:1 as a minimum.
The University is making a targeted call for applications under the Co-Investment Fund, in the following defined areas: EIF, ARC Centres of Excellence, NHMRC Centres of Research Excellence, new NCRIS initiatives, large philanthropic, Stem Cell Special Research Initiative, and the Australian Cancer Research Foundation.
Faculty Executive Deans and Institute Directors may put forward a small number of EOIs outside the defined target areas, provided these can be demonstrated to be of high strategic value to the University and of high relevance to the Smart Futures Co-Investment Fund.
Expression of Interest
Please note the following:
- The University will use an Expression of Interest (EOI) process to determine its field of applications under the Smart Futures Co-Investment Fund.
- EOIs will be recommended by the host UQ Faculty or Institute, before final consideration by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research). Applicants will be advised of the outcome of the EOI process by the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research).
- UQ applicant teams are required to submit an EOI as soon as possible, but by no later than 29 August 2011.
Philanthropic Letter of Support
Please note the following:
- For new or existing donations from a philanthropic organisation to be leveraged with a Smart Futures Co-Investment fund application, a philanthropic letter of support is required.
- In addition, for new donations an Expression of Intent for Philanthropic Gift Form is required.
- Click here for instructions and a template for the philanthropic letter of support and the Expression of Intent for Philanthropic Gift Form.
- UQ researchers must contact Maggie Hsieh from the UQ Advancement Office m.hsieh1@uq.edu.au to work together on completing this process.
- Philanthropic letters of support must accompany the Co-Investment Fund application form due to R&ID 9 September 2011. Researchers are still required to formally complete the ODVC(R) internal EoI process (noting UQ is making a restricted call under CIF) which is due by 29 August 2011.
