ARC Research Management System (RMS)
RMS (Research Management System) is the new ARC system for preparing and submitting a grant application to the ARC. It was first used in March 2009.
If you had a ARC GAMS Account:
If you had a GAMS user account prior to January 2009 your GAMS ID and profile have been copied to RMS. To access RMS:
- Your Username for RMS is your GAMS ID. Keep in mind that you do not need to request a new account;
- To be able to log into RMS for the first time you will need to reset your password via the 'Reset Password' link on the RMS Homepage;
- Once you have entered a valid user name into the webpage and hit 'Request', you will receive email advice with a link to reset your password. Follow the instructions in the email to reset you password and you will then be able to login.
- Please note that password reset requests expire within a couple of hours, so you will need to act quickly.
- On accessing RMS:
- you can change your password through the "RMS User Account Details" link on your home page.
- ensure your personal details are accurate in the 'My Details' section. Some of the components of your applications are drawn directly from information contained within your personal details so it is very important these are complete, accurate and up to date.
- Verify that your administering organisation (for your RMS account) are correct (Personal Details>Organisation Details tab). Use 'Request Transfer' link to update your organisation if required

If you cannot remember or have lost your user name you can request a reminder email be sent from the RMS login page. Click on "Retrieve User Name" and enter your email address. A reminder email will be sent to the email address recorded in ARC systems. If you no longer have access to your email address or have changed email address please contact rms@research.uq.edu.au for assistance.

If you did not have a ARC GAMS Account:
You can request an RMS account directly from the RMS Homepage.
- UQ Employees and Adjunct Staff Members should request their 'Organisation that will administer the account' as "The University of Queensland". Adjunct staff members can also include their 'Organisation that is this users principal affiliation' as their principal employer.
- International/Industry Partners should request their 'Organisation that will administer the account' as the "Australian Research Council" and add their actual 'Organisation that is this users principal affiliation' as their employer.

GAMS
GAMS (Grant Application Management System) is the ARC's old system used for preparing and submitting grant applications to the ARC. This system is being phased out in 2009.
In order to get access to GAMS you will require a GAMS ID and password as these are used to log in to the system. Please see the RMS section if you intend to submit an application to the ARC. If you require access to GAMS to submit final reports and have forgotten you login information please contact gams@research.uq.edu.au for assistance.
