International Journal of Technology and Globalisation - Call for Papers

Special Issue on: "Nanotechnology, Innovation and Global Development"

The aim of this special issue is to provide a review of advances in nanotechnology or relevance to global development. Preference will be given to papers that combine assessment of emerging nanotechnologies and identification of policy options for action. Special attention will be given to studies that focus on specific applications. The issue also welcomes papers on prospects of nanotechnology transfer to developing countries.

Seventh International Conference on Design Principles & Practices - Call for Papers
Wednesday, 6 March to Friday, 8 March 2013

Chiba (Greater Tokyo), Japan

This conference will address a range of critically important themes relating to design today. It is a place to explore the meaning and purpose of ‘design’, as well as speaking in grounded ways about the task of design and the use of designed artifacts and processes. The conference is a cross-disciplinary forum which brings together researchers, teachers and practitioners to discuss the nature and future of design.

Proposals for paper presentations, poster sessions, workshops or colloquia are invited for the Seventh International Conference on Design Principles and Practices.

Sixth International Conference on the Inclusive Museum - Call for Papers

Proposals for paper presentations, workshops or colloquia are invited for the Sixth International Conference on the Inclusive Museum to be held 22-24 April 2013 at the National Art Gallery of Denmark, Copenhagen. Now in its sixth year, the Museum Conference is a place where museum practitioners, researchers, thinkers and teachers can engage in discussion on the historic character and future shape of the museum. This year the Inclusive Museum is featuring the special theme ‘Museums and Active Citizenship’.

National

2013 Royal Society of Victoria Research Medal for Scientific Excellence Category 1: Biological Sciences (Non-human)

Nominations are invited for the fiftieth Award of the Royal Society of Victoria Medal for Scientific Research in Category I: Biological Sciences (Non-human). This category includes research in the disciplines of Agriculture, Biochemistry, Botany, Forestry, Animal and Plant Physiology, Zoology, and related non-human sciences. The Medal will be awarded solely on the basis of research work published and/or accepted for publication in refereed international journals during the ten-year period from 1 January 2003 to 31 December 2012. The work shall have been carried out in Australia (including its territories), or on Australia, with preference for work done in Victoria, or on Victoria. Alfred W. Bressler Prize in Vision Science

The Alfred W. Bressler Prize in Vision Science recognizes a professional in the field of vision science whose leadership, research and service have resulted in important advancements in the treatment of eye disease or rehabilitation of persons with vision loss. The prize is open to established mid-career scientists and clinicians whose contributions have advanced vision care and vision science and whose further work is expected to contribute significantly. William B. Graham Prize for Health Services Research

The Prize recognizes worldwide contributions to the improved health of the public through health services research, particularly research that has a lasting impact on the healthcare system and the way healthcare is delivered. Nominations are actively sought from all parts of the world. The Prize acknowledges national or international contributions of health services researchers who apply analytic methods to examine and evaluate the organization, financing, and/or delivery of health services. A single, major research contribution or a career-long record of achievement may be recognized. The prize consists of an individual award of $25,000. In addition, $25,000 will be awarded to a not-for-profit institution designated by the recipient, to support his or her work. Please note that self-nominations will not be accepted. Volvo Environment Prize

The Volvo Environment Prize is awarded for outstanding innovations or scientific discoveries which in broad terms fall within the environmental field. The span of disciplines and activities for which nominations can be made is very wide, and the work of nominees should be based on scientific grounds. Priority is given to an individual or to a group of named individuals, rather than to institutions, and self-nominations are not accepted. Please note that a nomination remains valid for three years.
