Role
The Animal Welfare Unit provides administrative support and co-ordinates the activities of the Universities 6 Animal Ethics Committees. Its key operational areas are:
- Documentation and record keeping
- Professional advice and monitoring
- Compliance and education

Mission Statement
To fulfil the obligations of the University of Queensland on all legal and welfare matters pertaining to the use of animals for research and teaching within the scope of the Animal Care and Protection Act Qld (2002) and the Australian Code of Practice for the Care and Use of Animals for Scientific Purposes (7th edition 2004).
