The UQ-Ochsner Seed Fund for Collaborative Research has been established as an internal grant scheme to help foster transdisciplinary research between eligible investigators based in the Ochsner Clinical School (OCS) and those based in other Schools, research Institutes and Centres of the University of Queensland.
 
The general objectives of the scheme are:
  • to facilitate research collaborations between OCS-affiliated UQ Academic Title Holders (ATHs)/UQ Honorary staff and staff within other UQ Schools, Centres and Institutes;
  • to provide research support for UQ Academic Title Holders and Honorary staff based in the OCS who are developing a productive program of research, especially focused on innovative, translational and clinically-relevant findings;
  • to seed fund research collaborations and projects capable of securing future external competitive funding support; and
  • to increase the research culture within the OCS and the research opportunities for MBBS/MD and RHD students within both the OCS and other academic units of UQ.

Please note that Priority Areas have been identified for the 2017 round. Projects should be targeted towards, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Neuroscience, brain and mental health 
  • Cancer 
  • Gastrointestinal 
  • Cardiovascular 
  • Health services 
  • Reproductive, maternal and child health

The following are the key dates for the UQ-Ochsner Seed Fund for Collaborative Research scheme for funding commencing in 2017:

  • Round opens (scheme documentation released): 31 August 2016
  • Completed applications submitted to the UQ Faculty of Medicine: 14 October 2016
  • Step 1: Download and read the 2017 UQ-Ochsner Seed Fund for Collaborative Research Guidelines from the UQ Documentation section below.
  • Step 2: After familiarising yourself with the eligibility and selection criteria, download and complete the UQ-Ochsner Seed Fund for Collaborative Research Application Form.
  • Step 3: Submit your completed Application Form and certifications in PDF format to the Faculty of Medicine (mbs.research@uq.edu.au) by the submission deadline above.
