The following are the key rounds dates for AQIP 2017.   Please note that the Queensland Government has implemented a two stage application process, with initial online Expressions of Interest (EOIs) followed by a Full Application stage:

Release of Funding Rules:  28 November 2016
Expressions of Interest Open in Smartygrants: 28 November 2016

Expressions of Interest (Internal UQR&I) deadline: 17 January 2017
UQ Cash Commitment Proforma (Internal UQR&I) deadline: 17 January 2017
Expressions of Interest (External Qld Government) deadline: 11.00am 30 January 2017

The assessment of EOIs is expected within 6 to 8 weeks, with selected proposals invited to a Full Application stage by the State.   There may be a round of interviews between the EOI and Full Application stage.  Interviews are also expected after the submission of Full Applications as part of the final selection process.

  • Step 1: Join the UQR&I Mailer. Official announcements and UQR&I updates regarding the scheme will be sent via the Mailer.
  • Step 2: Familiarise yourself with the key UQ and funding agency documentation (see below).
  • Step 3: Familiarise yourself with your Faculty/Institute specific grant peer review process.
  • Step 4: Ensure that you have created an account and are familiar with the Advance Queensland Innovation Partnerships Application online system in Smartygrants.  Please be aware that the e-mail address and log in details used to start an application are the only details to be used to access that application, and as such may need to be shared with team colleagues if the intention is to allow multiple users editing access.   Please note: UQR&I has no means of accessing, editing or submitting your application on your behalf.
  • Step 5: Complete the AQ Innovation Partnerships 2016-2017 Expression of Interest form online but do not submit the form.  Please save your application, export a PDF both for your records and for UQR&I review, but do not submit the EOI at this stage to the State.
  • Step 6: Lodge the application to UQR&I for Internal Review
    • Email your completed UQ Funding Application Coversheet to UQR&I.   This is needed to initiate internal review of your application.
    • Email an exported PDF copy of the draft EOI to qldgovtschemes@research.uq.edu.au with your request for Internal Review.
    • Include your completed, signed UQ Cash Commitments Proforma (see below).

  • Step 6: Internal review by UQR&I; feedback provided including compliance/eligibility/strategy/UQ internal cash, and how to finalise and submit your application.
  • Step 7:  Follow the instructions provided by UQR&I to submit your EOI, and provide a copy of the submission receipt email and submitted EOI to UQR&I, who will then contact the State to confirm UQ's endorsement of the submission.
