The UQ Graduate School focuses on maintaining the University's excellent record of educational outcomes and ensuring postgraduate students are well-placed for future careers. Some of our progressive programs and initiatives are highlighted below.

400 graduate student office spaces
Graduate School student offices are provided in addition to existing school graduate student accommodation and ensure that students, their supervisors, and schools sustain regular, quality contact.

Dedicated study areas in the UQ Library
These study areas provide graduate students with access to computers and data-points, individual study rooms, lockable desks, and group-study rooms.

Graduate School Research Travel Grants (GSRTG)
Offered twice a year, these grants have enabled over 600 UQ graduate students to travel within Australia and overseas. Advantages include accelerating progress on theses through access to equipment, expertise and/or archives not readily available at UQ. Recipients continually confirm the research travel has benefited their research goals.

Funding for conferences organised by and for graduate students
The School encourages graduate students to convene conferences in order to build organisational, presentation and networking skills.

UQ Graduate School-administered programs
The UQ Graduate School administers the following programs:
  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Program
  • Research Masters (MPhil) Program
  • Research scholarships including Australian Postgraduate Awards (APAs) and the UQ Postgraduate Research Scholarship.
