The Metro South Health Research Support Scheme (RSS) is administered by the Centres for Health Research and aims to award excellence in research that translates research discoveries into health and medical outcomes. Its objectives are to support research translation, innovation and research capacity building and collaboration. The Metro South Health RSS aligns with Queensland Government objectives for the community and priorities for health delivery service, and encompasses separate funding streams to support early career and established researchers. The RSS is supported by three funding bodies, Metro South Health Study Education and Research Trust (SERTA), PA Research Foundation, and the National Critical Care and Trauma Response Centre (NCCTRC) at the PA Hospital Division of Surgery Trauma Research Fund.

Overview

Aims
The intent of the Metro South Health Research Support Scheme is to initiate new projects and develop ideas that deviate from established lines of investigation and reward excellence in research that translates into health and medical outcomes.

• SERTA funded grants are required to demonstrate cross-disciplinary collaboration to strengthen collaborative and translational research across Metro South Health sites.
• The PA Research Foundation’s funding model is directed in the key research areas of prostate cancer, breast cancer, skin cancer, other cancer or other health research projects.
• TRADIM Grants provide funds to support research into trauma and disaster management practice.

Eligibility
For SERTA and PA Research Foundation Awards, the PI must be a Metro South Health employee and for TRADIM Grants, the PI must be an employee of the QLD Hospital and Health Service or Northern Territory Health Service . Funding
The Metro South Health RSS award funding is as follows:
• SERTA Novice Research Grants are for a duration of up to 2 years, with total funding of up to $25,000.
• SERTA Innovation (Seed) Grants are for a duration of up to 2 years, with total funding of up to $25,000.
• SERTA Early Career Researcher Grants are for a duration of up to 2 years, with total funding of up to $75,000.
• SERTA Project Grants are for a duration of up to 2 years, with total funding of up to $100,000.
• SERTA Program Grants are for a duration of up to 3 years, with total funding of up to $300,000.
• PA Research Foundation Awards/Grants are for a duration of 1 year, with funding of up to $100,000.
• The NCCTRC Trauma and Disaster Management Grant is for a duration of 2 years, with total funding of up to $25,000.
• The NCCTRC Trauma and Disaster Management Grant is for a duration of 2 years, with total funding of up to $75,000.
