The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) is pursuing genome editing as a therapeutic strategy to treat individuals with cystic fibrosis. To this end, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has announced an upcoming new Request For Applications for “Advancing Gene Editing Technologies and Tools for Cystic Fibrosis.”

CFF encourages investigators involved in gene editing to apply and requires no previous experience in cystic fibrosis research. A goal of the program will be to connect experts in gene editing with experts in cystic fibrosis to create a collaborative network of investigators who can synergize to move the editing field forward.

Overview

• Aim
The objective of the Collaborative Program is to support an integrated, multi-investigator collaborative research program project with a well-defined, central focus related to technology development for gene editing. A single collaborative program can include up to three related research projects that share a well-defined collaborative theme, focus, and/or overall objective.

• Eligibility
Applicants must be a M.D., Ph.D. or dual M.D., Ph.D. and must be a well-established scientist.

• Funding
The duration of the Collaborative Research Grant is up to 3 years, with funding up to US $750,000. Up to US $25,000 additional funds may be requested for administrative support of multi-project programs, with justification.

• Eligible Expenses
Eligible expenses include:
•The lead site for the collaborative program project grant is eligible for administrative support, up to US $25,000 direct cost.

• Overheads
The maximum rate of overheads allowed by CFF for this scheme is 8%, which is in addition to the US $750,000 allowed for direct research costs.
