NHMRC Partnerships for Better Health – Partnership Projects (Partnership Projects) will support connections, within the Australian context, that translate research evidence into health policy and health practice, to improve health services and processes. Applications which address health services and programs to improve health outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, an NHMRC strategic priority for investment, are also encouraged.

NHMRC ADMINISTERING INSTITUTIONS PARTNER WAIVER

NHMRC Approved Administering Institutions cannot be named as a partner on a Partnership Project application, unless they:
- are primarily an organisation which delivers health policy and/or health services, and
- obtain a waiver from NHMRC.

An Administering Institution that is primarily involved in delivering health policy and/or health services can apply for a waiver. Requests for waivers need to be made through the Research Administration Office of the Administering Institution that is applying for the waiver.

NHMRC Administering Institutions approved as Partner Organisations

The NHMRC has approved waivers for the following NHMRC Administering Institutions to be considered as Partner Organisations on NHMRC Partnership Project applications:
- Cancer Council Queensland (ABN 48 321 126 727)
- Department of Health Queensland trading as Health Services Support Agency (ABN 66 329 169 412)
- Metro North Hospital and Health Services (ABN 66 329 169 412)
- Metro South Hospital and Health Services (ABN 86 834 068 616)

These waivers are valid for any Partnership Project application submitted for the remainder of 2018.

KEY CHANGES TO THE SCHEME – Partnership Projects Special Initiative

Additional funding is available to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health research through a Partnership Projects Special Initiative (see section 9 of the Partnership Projects scheme-specific funding rules).

Partnership Project Special Initiative applications are comprised of:
* The NHMRC RGMS application, which is to be submitted to the NHMRC in accordance with their guidelines, and
* The Supplementary Questions document, which is to be uploaded into RGMS under ‘B-SI Special Initiative’ of the application form.

MINIMUM DATA REQUIREMENTS

The following sections of the application in RGMS must be completed in order to satisfy minimum data requirements:
* PA General: Specifically, Administering Institution, Application Title, Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Research and Synopsis;
* A-RC Research Classification; and
* A-RT Research Team (add core team members if known, noting that team members may be added or deleted after the minimum data deadline until the close of applications)

Applicants are also reminded to complete the recommended fields with correct information. Using placeholder text such as “text”, “synopsis” or “xx” etc. are not acceptable as minimum data.

DOCUMENTATION & RESOURCES
NHMRC documentation, including the Funding Rules and Special Initiatives Supplementary Questionnaire are available from GrantConnect, the Australian Government grants information system. Applicants must be GrantConnect registered users to download documents. These documents have also been downloaded to the UQR&I NHMRC Partnership Projects webpage for your convenience. As the scheme requires the involvement of one or more partner organisations, researchers are encouraged to engage with their Faculty/Institute Research Partnership Managers for additional specialist advice during the proposal development process.

INFORMATION SESSION

UQR&I will be hosting an Information Session to assist UQ researchers in preparing their NHMRC Partnership Projects applications. Details are as follows:
