The Tyre Stewardship Research Fund
Sponsor: Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA)
Closing Date: 31-Dec-2018
The Tyre Stewardship Research Fund provides funds through a competitive process to support the development of markets for Australian tyre derived products. Funding is being delivered in two streams: Project Stream and Scholarship Stream.

Aim
The primary objective of the fund is to invest in innovative projects that lead to higher sales of tyre-derived product being made by Australian tyre recyclers and manufacturers.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
• meet the requirements for co-contributions and be able to fund all costs of the project that are not met by TSA’s contribution to the total cost of the project
• have ownership of, access to or the beneficial use of any background intellectual property necessary to carry out the project
• be accredited by TSA or be willing to seek accreditation if a tyre industry fund category is applicable

Project Stream Funding
• TSA seeks projects where TSA cash contributions are between $50,000 (ex GST) to $200,000 (ex GST).
• TSA seeks to maximise the value of its investment via co-contributions from other project partners on at least a 1:1 funding basis.
• Projects where collaborative partnerships between industry, research bodies and “end users” can be demonstrated will be prioritised by TSA.
• Applications will be assessed most favourably if they are both innovative and have the potential to consume high volumes of Australian tyre-derived product.

Scholarship Stream Funding
• There are 2 x $75,000 scholarships available.
• This stream focuses more on ‘early stage’ mechanisms to investigate future technology, applications and solutions that may transform markets for tyre recycling and tyre-derived products.

Please see https://www.tyrestewardship.org.au/funding/funding-2 for more details on both Streams, and https://www.tyrestewardship.org.au/funding/research-fund-guidelines for further information including eligibility criteria, desired project models, funding levels and assessment criteria.
