Biomarkers Across Neurodegenerative Diseases (BAND) Program
Sponsor: The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF), the Alzheimer’s Association, Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) and the Weston Brain Institute (Weston)
Closing Date: 10-Sep-2018
The BAND program funds analyses across Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other neurodegenerative diseases to increase understanding of pathogenic similarities and differences. The ultimate goal is to help stratify populations and develop possible diagnostic tools or treatments.

Aims
The intent of this request for applications (RFA) is to analyse across existing data; biological samples are not available for use under this RFA. Funding may support, but is not limited to, projects that aim to develop and/or advance innovative data models, biomarker discovery, assay standardization, genetic profiling, harmonize existing data set phenotypes, analyse cross-disease or longitudinal analyses of existing data, inclusion of other neurodegenerative diseases related to PD and AD, or imaging development. Ultimately, the goal of this program is to translate the research into strategies to increase understanding of the similarities of differences across and between neurodegenerative diseases to help stratify populations and develop possible diagnostic tools or treatments.

Funding
The duration of the BAND program is up to two years, with funding of up to USD $150,000 per project.

Eligibility
• Post-doctoral fellows applying as a principal investigator (PI) must collaborate with a PI who is the director of the laboratory in which the research will be conducted.
• Applicants should include study personnel (co-investigate or consult) with significant expertise and familiarity with the identified cohort/database to support scientific oversight of proposed project aims.

Please see BAND for further information, noting that the required Letter of Intent must be completed and submitted online at Proposal Central.
