2019 Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowships

Applications for the Heart Foundation’s Future Leader Fellowships are now open. The Heart Foundation offers two levels of Future Leader Fellowships for PhD graduates 3-10 years post-PhD to support the best and brightest cardiovascular researchers as they build their research capacity and become leaders of research groups. The Heart Foundation supports research into the causes, treatment and prevention of heart, stroke and blood vessel disease. Eligibility:
• Applicants must be involved in any area of cardiovascular health research including biomedical, clinical, public health and health service delivery.
• At the time of application, applicants (Chief Investigator only) must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, an Australian permanent resident or must have applied to become an Australian permanent resident. Evidence that Australian permanent residency has been granted will be required before an award can commence. Failure to do so will result in cancellation of the award.

Level 1 Fellowships (3-7 years post awarding of their PhD on the application closing date)
The Level 1 Future Leader Fellowship offers a $90,000 stipend pro rata plus $40,000 project support per year for a duration of 4 years. This is to facilitate high impact research outcomes and help researchers secure additional funding from further sources to help support their career and develop as independent researchers.

Level 2 Fellowships (7-10 years post awarding of their PhD on the application closing date)
The Level 2 Future Leader Fellowship offers a $110,000 stipend pro rata plus $50,000 project support per year for a duration of 4 years, to support researchers to develop their own research portfolio and become leaders of cardiovascular research groups.

The UQR&I internal deadline for submission of applications is 28 March 2018.

Applicants should provide a completed application, signed Funding Application Coversheet and Head of School confirmation of any salary gap coverage required to fellowshipgrants@research.uq.edu.au in order to commence the UQR&I review process.
