Broad Agency Announcement for Extramural Biomedical Research and Development

This Broad Agency Announcement solicits basic and applied research proposals from all organisations, including international organisations, for specific research areas of interest to the United States Special Operations Command, listed below. Research and development funded through this BAA are intended and expected to benefit and inform both military and civilian medical practice and knowledge.

Aims: The Research Areas of Interest (RAIs) in this call for proposals are: Medical Simulation and Training Technologies, Damage Control Resuscitation (including Global Treatment Strategies and Next Generation Wound Management, Analgesia, Far Forward Blood, Blood Components, Blood Substitute, & Injectable Hemostatic and Austere Surgical Stabilization), Prolonged Field Care (including Medical Devices and Telehealth Technology), Portable Lab Assays and Diagnostics, Force Health Protection and Environmental Medicine (including Optimal Acclimatization Strategy, Prevention of Occupational Lead Exposure and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosive (CBRNE) Rapid Diagnostics, Treatment, and Prophylaxis), Canine Medicine, Human Operational Performance (including Sleep Restoration, Enhanced Physiological & Mental Performance, Diagnostics for Performance Sustainment, Nutritional Status, Pharmaceutical and Nutritional Supplement interactions and Optimal Performance Strategy).

Funding Details: The maximum period of performance is two years and most projects are anticipated to have a total cost at or under USD $700,000 (including indirect costs).

Submission Deadlines:
UQ internal close: 2 April 2018
Pre-application (mandatory) external close: 14 April 2018

After a pre-application screening process, the U.S. Department of Defense will invite successful pre-applicants to submit a full application due in mid-June 2018.
