Closing Date: 12-Oct-2018
Aim/s: The aim is to stimulate minerals research that will directly benefit the Western Australian economy, is directed to the mineral deposits in WA and is within the remit of the Research Priority Plan (https://www.mriwa.wa.gov.au/research-grants/research-priority-plan/). The MRIWA prefer to fund projects in which MRIWA has the prime coordinating and administrative role - it is, in effect, the broker for Western Australian based and supported research and development projects.

Funding Details: The duration and funding amount is variable (funded projects range from 6 months to several years; funding amounts have ranged from $50,000 to several million dollars).

Eligibility: The research must directly benefit Western Australian minerals research. Applicants must secure sponsor co-investment before submitting the application. Applications with a financial leverage of less than 2X will not be considered for awarding of MRIWA funds, without the express authority of the Chair of the Board. The Board’s target is 3x average financial leverage (2016/2017).

Please see https://www.mriwa.wa.gov.au/researchgrants/ for further information, noting that MRIWA advise that the application process is most effective as a collaborative effort between the Applicant and MRIWA Project Managers. Prospective applicants are invited to start discussions with MRIWA Project Managers as early as possible. Submission of a 2-page summary of a proposed project is highly recommended prior to submitting a full Application. MRIWA Project Managers can assist with the development of the application, and in developing networks and collaboration that may expand the scope of, or increase the capabilities available to a research project. The application must include a completed Research Grant Application form and Executive summary (maximum 1 page), budget, project description including milestones, indications of industry support, literature references, and research backgrounds of applicants and other participants.
