Sponsor: Westpac Bicentennial Foundation
Closing Date: 15-Aug-2016
Applications for the 2016 Westpac Research Fellowship scheme for funding commencing in 2017 are now open.
The Westpac Bicentennial Foundation is partnering with leading Australian research universities to offer up to six Westpac Research Fellowships for early-career researchers who are 3-6 years post-PhD. This unique fellowship supports outstanding researchers whose ground-breaking work has the potential to make a difference in one of the Foundation's priority areas:
• Technology and innovation;
• Strengthening Australia-Asia ties; or
• Enabling positive social change.

Fellowship recipients will be exceptional people, chosen for their intellectual ability, leadership qualities, and commitment to the community. With contributions from both Westpac and UQ, the Fellowship will fund the Fellow’s full-time salary (including on-costs) and project costs for up to three years, as well as $30,000 for professional development. Applications are open to Australian citizens or permanent residents with a PhD awarded between 1 September 2010 and 1 September 2013 (or with an appropriate Eligibility Exemption). The proposed area of research must be in a field of research in which UQ received an Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) http://www.arc.gov.au/era-outcomes four digit Field of Research (FOR) rating of 5. Please note that funding requests for the purpose of medical research as defined in the ARC Medical Research Policy http://www.arc.gov.au/arc-medical-research-policy will not be considered.

Applicants should refer to the Westpac Bicentennial Foundation website for full details regarding eligibility and the application and selection process.

UQR&I INTERNAL APPLICATION DEADLINES
